Antigua ~ Summer 2006

I created this blog to let people know about our trip to Antigua this summer. I decided to keep updating during the year to let people know about other ministry opportunities that we have during the year. I pray that it will be an encouragement to others to serve the Lord wherever you are and be willing to follow Him wherever He leads you.

Thanks for praying...

Brent's surgury went well. There were no problems or complications. We have real color photos to prove it. However, they are not for the squimish or faint at heart. :) He did have a little trouble coming out of the anesthesia--not fun for my mom who had to clean up after him Wednesday night while dad and I were at church. His stomach seems to be settled now and he is eating more regularly. However, he is still on lots of pain medication and sleeping a lot. We would appreciate your prayers for his continued recovery. He gets the bandages off on Monday and we'll see from there. Looks like at least 6 weeks until he can use his arm again. Probably longer for any strenuous work--like overhead reaching, etc... THANK YOU so much for praying. Please don't stop. We all need God's grace and patience. He is sufficient in every situation.

Brent's surgery...

If anyone checks this today, please pray for Brent's surgury today at 11:15AM. It is supposed to last about an hour and a half. I'll try to update you as soon as I find out what happened. God is working in our lives and I pray that He will receive the glory He deserves whatever the outcome.

Easter Weekend

Friday morning found me piling in the McDonald's van with 11 other friends and heading to Green Valley falls once again for a picnic and hike. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the whole group, so I am including this picture of the girls taken by Bennett.

We spent most of our time a little futher down stream to avoid other noisy hikers. :) Not too much water this year, but it is still beautiful.

Easter Sunday lunch with the Davies...yes we ate in the living room...it was fun...the guys table is so serious...

Praise the Lord!!!! Catherine, the Chinese girl I asked you to pray for, joined us for church and dinner afterwards. She said that she really enjoyed the music during the service and playing ping-pong after dinner. :) Lord willing, we will have more opportunities to share the gospel with her in the future.

Prayer updates

Thanks for praying for my grandfather and brother. Grandpa's second chemo went well and he has been healthy, although weak, so far. As far as I know they are going to continue with the treatments for the time being.
Brent has been recovering slowly. His road rash is a lot better, and his dislocated shoulder is much better. Today he got a second opinion on the broken clavical. They decided surgery was best due to the nature of the injury and my brother's active lifestyle. So, please pray for him and my mom as they drive to Carmel Valley on Wednesday morning for the surgery. It is an out-patient surgery, so we will continue to care for him at home. Unfortunately, after the surgery he will probably feel about how he did after the accident. However, the doctor said that it really wouldn't set the over-all recovery time for the ingury back at all. Six weeks is still a long time. The Harrison hospital continues its 24-hour service! :)

Resurrection Day is just around the corner...

Last Saturday my family had the opportunity to take a Chinese exchange student, Catherine, sightseeing around San Diego. My mom met her through an outreach to foreign students and we have taken her on several outings to get to know her better. I had an opportunity on Saturday to explain a little bit about Easter, or Resurrection Day as we often call it, and my mom invited her to come to our church and see how Americans celebrate Easter. (at least American Christians) Anyways, please pray that she will come at we will have more opporunities to witness to her. My mom also bought a book in Chinese explaining the story of the Bible. We want to give it to her for Easter.

Catherine and Rebecca, a girl from church I "babysat" for the weekend, enjoying a display on the USS Midway.

Rebecca and I having fun in the trees at Seaport Village.

Spring is here and Easter is just around the corner... may you all have a wonderful weekend celebrating Christ's victory over death. He is risen!

"I came that you might have life, and have it more abundantly."

Praise God for the new life He gives to those who believe!
