Antigua ~ Summer 2006

I created this blog to let people know about our trip to Antigua this summer. I decided to keep updating during the year to let people know about other ministry opportunities that we have during the year. I pray that it will be an encouragement to others to serve the Lord wherever you are and be willing to follow Him wherever He leads you.

Lots of prayer needed....

Thank you for praying for my grandfather. His second chemo treatment went well yesterday. Please continue to pray for his body to react well to the treatment, that he wouldn't get too sick from it, and that we would have wisdom in caring for him. Right now he is with my aunt and uncle, so pray for them too.
I would also like to request pray for my brother Brent. He was is a motorcycle accident yesterday which could have easily paralized him or killed him. Praise God, He choose to protect him. He is coming home today with only a broken collar bone and minor cuts, scrapes and bruisies. Please pray for his recovery and that there will not be any long-term effects or complications from his injuries. I'm sure he will be very sore for a long time and hope that there will not be any permanent back or neck pain due to the nature of the impact. I also am praying that he will learn some valueable life lessons from this experience. I know that the Lord has allowed it in his life for good reasons--even some beyond my understanding--and pray that Brent will see it that way as well.
This has been a good reminder for me about the importance of prayer! Keep praying!!

Finally, some pictures...

Last Friday my friends Allison, Lindsay and I went on a hike to Green Valley Falls. It was beautiful and deserted--we didn't see another person the whole time we were there. We had a great time and can't wait to go back and bring some more of our family and friends.

I love this tree growing out of the rock.

Last Saturday I went to the AWANA olympics to watch my friend Emilie compete. Her team got second place. Go Blue!!!

On Tuesday morning when my mom and I went outside to exercise, this beautiful sight met our eyes. The picture doesn't do it justice because the sunrise view from our house is only between the houses, but you get the idea.

So sorry...

I am so sorry for not posting for such a long time. I have had problems with posting from home, so I am sending this from work. Hopefully I will be able to get everything fixed so that I can post from home again. Until then, please be patient with me, if you haven't already given up and stopped checking my blog altogether.
I thought I should update those who have been praying for my grandfather. He had his first round of chemo two weeks ago, and it seemed to go well at first. However, he has steadily been feeling worse since then. My family cared for him last week while my aunt and uncle went on vacation and we had to make several trips to emergency and the doctor. Due to the side effects of the chemo, as far as we can tell, he is no longer able to care for himself and needs constant supervision. The doctor has decided to put off the next chemo treatment for a week and see how he is feeling then. Please pray for wisdom in how to best care for him and whether or not to continue the chemo treatments.
Praise the Lord for his protection and provision in every situation. I know He will provide and we will give Him the glory for His wonderful works on our behalf. I am also so thankful for our hope of eternal life with Christ. If all we had to look forward to were the few short years we have on earth, we would be most miserable.
